Growing up in Glusburn

At the age of 4, I went to Glusburn Primary School, when I was part of a year group of 28 children. This is in contrast to now, when it is over 50, which perhaps illustrates the growth of the village. During the 7 years I spent there, I began going to different activities which ended up taking most nights of the week. I went to swimming lessons at Malsis School, Brownies at the Institute, Ballet and Tap lessons at Steeton. Later I went to Old Time Dancing lessons at the Institute and Gymnastics at South Craven. I was part of the first trip to Holland that was arranged for the older children at Glusburn School, by the Headmaster, Mr Clough. I was very happy at Primary School and now look back on it with many good memories.
